MY HEALTH - Our Food Supply is a MESS!

Calley Means, with a background in consulting for both the pharmaceutical and food industries, has shifted his focus towards transforming healthcare by advocating for preventive measures over treatment, aiming to steer healthcare dollars towards incentivizing healthy metabolic habits like diet, exercise, and stress management. He has been a very vocal advocate for improving our food supply. Here’s a short summary of what he’s been discussing recently:

He presents a critical view on America's food supply, arguing that it's not just a supply issue but a systemic problem driven by corporate control, policy failures, and a lack of health-focused incentives. Here's a condensed summary:

  • Corporate Consolidation and Control: Means criticizes the dominance of large corporations in food production, distribution, and processing, which he believes prioritize profit over health, leading to a "weaponized food system". This system, he notes, was historically influenced by the cigarette industry transitioning into food, employing tactics to make food more addictive.

  • Health Impacts: He links the industrialized food environment directly to public health crises like obesity, chronic diseases, and addiction, emphasizing that the healthcare system profits more from treating these illnesses than preventing them through nutrition.

  • Economic and Policy Critique: Means discusses how economic policies favor large agribusinesses, making unhealthy food cheaper and more accessible. He advocates for a radical policy shift towards incentivizing health over profit, particularly critiquing how nutritional advice and research are influenced by conflicted interests.

  • Call for Change: His advocacy includes transforming the current sick-care model into one focused on prevention through better food choices, exercise, and lifestyle changes. He calls for systemic changes in how healthcare dollars are spent, moving towards investments in health rather than sickness.

  • Public Sentiment: Through platforms like X, Means taps into and amplifies public sentiment around food supply issues, advocating for local, sustainable, and health-focused food systems over the current corporate-driven model.

BIBLE Message - The Fragrance of a Consecrated Life

Exodus 30:23 “Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels.”

The Meaning for Us Today
This passage speaks profoundly to the life of a believer today. Just as the oil was used to consecrate the tabernacle and the priests, we are called to be consecrated and set apart for God’s purposes. Our lives are to be marked by the fragrance of Christ, as Paul says in 2 Corinthians 2:15: “For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish.”

Every element in the anointing oil represents a facet of our spiritual journey. We must die to ourselves and be purified (myrrh), find our joy and satisfaction in God alone (cinnamon), walk in uprightness and truth (calamus), and humbly submit ourselves to God’s will (cassia). When these qualities are evident in our lives, mingled with the presence of the Holy Spirit, our lives become a sweet-smelling aroma to God, pleasing and acceptable in His sight.

Prayer:
Lord, consecrate us anew. May our lives be as the holy anointing oil, a fragrant offering pleasing unto You. Fill us with Your Spirit, that we may live in such a way that brings glory to Your name. Amen.
