John 19:39  “ Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes...”

Bible Message - John 19:39

The journey of faith.

John 19:39 (click to read)

In John 19:39, we witness a poignant moment of devotion and respect. "Nicodemus also, who earlier had come to Jesus by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds in weight." Here, Nicodemus, who once visited Jesus under the cover of darkness, now steps into the light, bringing an extravagant gift to prepare Jesus' body for burial. This act of generosity and bravery is a testament to a transformation within Nicodemus, from a secret follower to a public mourner.

This passage speaks volumes about the journey of faith. Nicodemus shows us that it is never too late to step forth in faith, to make our devotion known regardless of previous hesitations or fears. His gift, rich in its abundance, symbolizes the fullness of his reverence and the depth of his transformation.

Let us learn from Nicodemus. Let our actions reflect a faith that is bold and visible, not hidden away. Let us bring forth our own 'myrrh and aloes,' our best efforts and resources, to honor God not just in solitude but in the sight of the world. It challenges us to consider: what are we willing to offer? How do we prepare our hearts and lives as offerings to God?

Embrace the journey from secrecy to openness, from night to daylight in your walk with Christ. Like Nicodemus, may your faith be profound enough to inspire a bold display of devotion.

Amen!
