Horrific Fentanyl Epedemic - 2023

• Since 2000, more than a million people in the United States have died of drug overdoses, the majority of which were due to opioids.
• Fentanyl and other synthetic opioids have been driving the crisis in recent years, with an increasing share of the supply coming from Mexico.
• The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated the crisis, with reported spikes in overdose deaths across the country.

This was last week:

• 1200 Americans died from Fentanyl this week.
• More Americans than Israelis or Palestinians have died.
• They died from Fentanyl pouring over the open border.
• Every week this year, the number of Americans dead from Fent will go up the same number.
• This is week 41 of 2023.

When the Nazis invaded Holland, Corrie Ten Boom and her family began hiding Jewish people in their home in hopes of saving them from death camps. When what they were doing was discovered, she was sent to a women’s labor camp where she suffered horrific experiences at the hands of the very people she tried to protect others from. Later in life, these experiences led to a worldwide ministry through more than 60 countries where she preached about forgiveness and Christ’s love.

Let us remember the wisdom encapsulated in the second book of Samuel, chapter 7, verse 10. "And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning."

What a splendid reminder that we are all, in essence, looking for our own 'Promised Land'—a haven where we may plant our dreams, cultivate our hopes, and harvest the fruits of our labors. Not just in the sense of physical territory, but in the expanses of our mind and the territories of our soul.

God’s promise to provide a place where His people will no longer be disturbed is not merely an assurance of physical safety; it’s also a promise of peace of mind. Ah, yes, we may face disturbances from the wicked, we may face trials and tribulations, yet the Almighty assures us of a fortress that no evil can penetrate. It is the fortress of faith, my friends, guarded by the angels of persistence, love, and hope.

Remember this, for it applies not only to the Israelites but to all of us who are in search of a life filled with meaning. Keep your faith steadfast, water it with gratitude, and fertilize it with love. In due time, you shall find your own place of peace, just as God promised Israel.

In this busy world, amid the chaos of our daily life, isn’t it comforting to know that there is a sacred space waiting just for you? Seek it with all your heart and, once you find it, let no wickedness disturb your peace. Amen.
